Nation attacked by terrorism yet again

Intelligence failure-the phrase most commonly heard in the face of a terrorist attack. Is it merely so?I will not go into the socio-economic factors that help  breed terrorism and the like but will look holistically at what may have been a collective failure.

As a people,we have digested the habit of looking the other way as long as we are unaffected by a problem-we are experts at lecturing on problems, not so while giving solutions and much less committed while implementing the latter-and look,at best, for soft solutions which postpone a problem but not nip it in the bud.

As Civil servants ,how many are committed to work and how many sincere people are allowed to function? In our day to day working, how many idlers and misinformers do we come across? What has been our success rate in bringing them to the right track, let alone bringing them to book?

What I mean to say is that the entire system needs a thorough overhaul to increase accountability(not harassment)so that along with a feeling of security, each and everyone of us will be able to deliver the goods in our sphere of work & the common people don't suffer on account of our failures. Our countrymen should also feel more responsible towards the motherland and give up the schizophrenia.

Feeling skeptical already?Am I sounding too idealistic? Are you going to say that ideal situations are never achieved?But........

It is always worth a try. Moreover,if Raja Rammohun Roy simply ignored the social evils of his time on the plea that he did not stand to gain from their eradication,we would not have seen the Brahmo Samaj Movement.Let us all fight the enemies of society including poverty, illiteracy, etc. with sincerity.

I only hope our country improves sooner than later...

Surya.
